A chair rarely alters the way a room moves. Most stay still, doing their job without drawing attention. The Orbit Chair from Bent Collective approaches seating differently, through a form that curves, turns, and subtly shifts the experience of sitting.
Designed with an enveloping silhouette, Orbit gathers the body into its arc rather than placing it on a flat plane. The back curves inward with intention, creating a sense of ease that feels immediate. Its swivel base introduces a gentle sense of motion, allowing the chair to respond to the room by turning toward conversation, light, or pause without effort.
The design draws from planetary paths and fluid geometry. There is a softness to its lines, yet the structure remains grounded. The proportions are generous without appearing heavy, striking a balance between presence and comfort. As an accent piece, it draws attention; as a lounge chair, it settles into daily use with equal ease.
Material choices reinforce this clarity. Steam beech wood forms the core, lending strength and continuity. A natural polish allows the grain to remain visible, adding warmth without distraction. The integrated teakwood tray introduces a functional detail, offering a surface within reach, while a brass handle adds a precise note of contrast. Each element is resolved with restraint, ensuring the chair reads as a cohesive whole.
