The ARTISANIA : A Curated Dialogue Between Art and Space

Located in Banjara Hills, Road No. 12, Hyderabad, this 2,300 sq ft space is conceived as a thoughtfully layered interior where traditional Indian art, furniture, and craft find a natural place within contemporary living. Rather than functioning as a conventional retail environment, the store unfolds as a series of intimate vignettes, each exploring the relationship between art, craft, lighting, furniture, and architectural detail.
The walls are anchored by traditional painting styles including Tanjore, Pichwai, Gond, Kalamkari, Mata ni Pachedi, Cheriyal, and Kerala mural art, while sculptural elements such as Kushmandi masks, Kinnal wooden crafts, and brass and bronze antiques are integrated throughout the space. Carved wooden consoles, antique chests, seating pieces, and handcrafted furniture are arranged to create moments of quiet visual focus, allowing artworks and objects to exist organically within the interior.

A restrained material palette, warm wood, muted wall finishes, aged metals, and carefully considered ambient and accent lighting, ensures that the artworks remain central, transforming them into integral elements of the spatial narrative rather than decorative additions. Layered lighting highlights texture, patina, and form, bringing depth and warmth to the overall composition.

The spatial planning encourages slow movement through the store, with seating arrangements, sculptural forms, and layered textures offering multiple perspectives of the artworks. Masks, figurative objects, and ritual forms punctuate the space, adding cultural resonance without overwhelming the visual balance.

Designed as a living environment rather than a display-led showroom, the space demonstrates how traditional Indian art, furniture, and décor can coexist seamlessly within modern interiors—tactile, expressive, and deeply rooted, yet quietly contemporary in its presentation.
