KISCOL GRANDS by Ar. Prasanna Parvatikar (CUBISM Architects & Interiors)

The concept was to use theme inspired from the city of threads (COIMBATORE) as LINES & STROKES which were very well reflected of the walls, floors, ceiling, and lightings providing the visitors, a glimpse of city’s traditional occupation.

The imageability was our main concern for the project. The theme is been translated in M.S plates and grooves those are composed into simple column and beam structure containing jali works which transforms the appearance into the contemporary and vibrant.

Clean strokes and use of simple and maintainable materials became the main feature of the design. The harnessing of daylight through larger openings in the lobby and restaurant areas add bright and cheerful ambience.

The exterior of the hotel is graced with the use of clean strokes inspired from the theme and concept followed for the planning. As one enters the hotel, this is the mesmerizing view of the entrance that receives one with warm and welcoming ambience.

View from the visitors seating area is a patterned wooden jali work behind the reception desk along with the intentionally blurred out glass to confine the visitor’s line of sight inside the hotel itself.

A visual treat of wooden jali that complements classic marble and wood finish reception desk. The use of these patterns for flooring and low height ceiling welcomes the visitors and guides them to the restaurant space via the lift lobby  space.

The wall around the lift is cladded with marble and strip of laser cut metal that is well-lit to enhance the pattern. The view of the lobby that the visitor experience while vacating the hotel, the waiting area, the flooring pattern that gracefully guides the visitor to the exit.

A well cushioned restaurant seating with the backdrop of semi patterned tile and semi partitioned glass wall elevates the dining experience. The view from the restaurant window towards the coffee bar outside provides the user with the feel of extended space.

The view from the designed wall looking at the entrance lobby through the wooden screen and blurred out glass provides the user with a feel of extended space. The coffee bar can be accessed from the different passage way from the lobby. Invites the user with the pleasant outdoor feel with ample of skylight pouring in.

The use of blue and brown color theme creates an eye-pleasing space. The hall of events, well it by circular lighting and paneled walls. Conference room designed with the use of premium quality customized furniture by our craftsmen adds beauty  and elegance to space without hindering the purpose of the space.

This foyer designed with elegance and privacy welcomes the visitor with warmth. The foyer is made pleasant with the use of an elegant furniture, unique master artwork and surrounded by natural texture of wood. A confined space with all the amenities and extra furniture’s to accommodate few more visitors. The background wall is kept clean and the wooden panel frames it. The space fitted with simple fixtures and cladded with marble gives the         feel of grandeur in simplicity.

The use of backlit wooden art piece and its random placement on the wall turns out to be an important feature of the room. A petite room with wooden paneling, backlit wooden jali, maximizes the visual appeal making it a huge space. A small space for work or study purpose is provided for the user and placed in way to avoid any sort of disturbance to the circulation.

The project is situated in close proximity to Railway station which is the main commercial area of the city. A four star classified rating was achieved through the limited site space of 11700 Sq.ft (65ft x 180ft). The requirements were huge for this site. The design of public areas such as banquets, bar in basement and parking in semi-basement separated the hotel users from the other users by providing a separate access to these areas without entering into the main lobby.

The lobby is overwhelmed with Cushioned Couches well it lighting from the ceiling, wall and other standing lights. The clean strokes of marble and lights in the floor and ceiling respectively provide a sense of direction to the user.
